Chapter 4 · The Lowtide Sleeper

Late evening, and Tobias has to announce from the real timetable. The Records Car holds it in strips and drawers, and Merrow fetches the pages. When an announcement goes wrong, the cause is not always the same: sometimes it is the wrong page, sometimes an old one, sometimes the right page read badly. Your job in this carriage is to tell which.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain every stage of a RAG pipeline and its trade-offs.
  • Diagnose a failing RAG system by separating retrieval from generation, and choose a RAG variant for a scenario.
